Ping Pong Go
Do you know gamer jazz? It’s the musical style created by and for Ping Pong Go, the wildly ambitious duo of Vincent Gagnon and PE Beaudoin, two of Québec’s most prolific musicians. Seen on stage with artists such as Hubert Lenoir, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, Ariane Roy, and Keith Kouna, they introduced their playful and entirely instrumental musical universe with a debut album released in 2022 on popop records. Their quirky sound unites nerds and athletes alike through a soundtrack that feels equally at home at the Olympics and inside a vintage video game. A true jazz-world UFO both on record and on stage, Ping Pong Go returns with a second album boldly titled SMASH COMBAT. We wish them all the medals and trophies.
Patche
Patche is much more than a machine-driven band. Despite the impressive electronic arsenal surrounding them, there is plenty of feeling at the heart of their music. Powered by five longtime friends who perform with or as members of Mon Doux Saigneur, Alex Burger, Klô Pelgag, Lumière, Duu, and zouz, the Montréal instrumental outfit dives headfirst into modular-synth electronics, energized by drum machines, acoustic drums, electric and synth bass, and even synthesized harmonica. Patche crafts psychedelic, motorik-inspired electronic music built from hypnotic rhythms and unconventional loops, drawing equally from experimental rock, Berlin-school techno, art rock, avant-garde music, and EDM. The group has performed at major festivals in Québec, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, La Noce, and FME, as well as festivals across Europe. Following Patche (2023) and Document (2024), their third album, Mode, is set for release in October 2025 on popop records.
