Lisa LeBlanc was propelled into the musical stratosphere in 2012 with her hit Aujourd’hui, ma vie c’est d’la marde, from her self-titled debut album of folk (what she calls ‘folk trash’), which alternates between unbridled rhythms and laid-back tracks, all with her irresistible lyrics sung in Chiac. The Banjo Queen from New Brunswick has been very busy the last few years, unleashing a succession of shows and releasing albums, singles and EPs, including a mini-album under the pseudonym Belinda, It’s Not a Game, It’s a Lifestyle (2020), a surprising electro ode to the popular church basement sport, bingo. Following up on this success, Lisa LeBlanc is back with a new opus, Chiac Disco, that blends her Acadian roots with 1970s funk and soul grooves, a colourful patchwork of songs that celebrate life and the need to get down and boogie.
